Courier, Microsoft’s rival to the iPad, abandoned

Microsoft reportedly abandons their project to release a competitor to the popular Apple iPad. Originally, the Courier was thought to give the iPad a run for its money leaving consumers surprised at Microsoft’s move.

“Courier, a tablet project that was being developed by Microsoft to potentially compete with Apple’s iPad was sidelined, according to an official Microsoft blog post on Thursday.”

“[Courier] will be evaluated for use in future offerings, but we have no plans to build such a device at this time,” said Shaw in the statement. Shaw is Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Communications.

This news follows Apple’s release of the iPad 3G on Friday.
